SRS West of Scotland Championship, 23rd January 2011

It was a good day for Clyde on Sunday in Maybole with Junior Recurve archers Sean Bruijstens and Nathan Clancy getting Gold medals in their age group. Graham Glass got Silver in the Gents Recurve and Ted Hughes got Bronze in Gents Compound. Well done!

Scottish Records at Bannockburn

Two Clyde Arrows members competed at Bannockburn Bowmen's double American on 26th June taking Scottish records. Michael Cunningham took both the single and double Under 18 compound records and Fiona Quayle took the Single Ladies compound record.

West of Scotland Archery Association Outdoor Championship

Clyde Arrows hosted the West of Scotland Archery Association Outdoor Championships on 23rd May, and gave their new traffic light system their first run out. The weather was fantastic (if a little warm) and everything went as planned. The round to decide the champions was a FITA 70M or 60M for under 16s and this was finished for about 1pm then the fun began.
To make things a little more light hearted we had arranged a team head to head and encouraged people to give their teams fun and original names, these ranged from "Powder Puff Girls" which was made up of Frank Mcguire, Ross Blackwell and Emma Gilles of Ayr to "STD" which was made up of Ann Ward, Jason Craig and Martin Hancock also of Ayr.

A very enjoyable day

Clyde Arrows hosted the first shoot of the Scottish outdoor season on Sunday 25th April with the biggest entry we have had to date.

The round shot was an Albion which is three dozen arrows at 80yards, 60yards and 50yards. With such a large entry we had shoot in two waves but the day still moved along quickly with Bobby keeping on top of things and giving us enough of a break to miss the one heavy rain shower of the day then it was on to the BBQ.

The BBQ was expertly manned by our secretary Eddie with everything cooked to perfection. A fantastic array of chocolate treats were cooked by Fiona and disappeared almost as soon as they were revealed.

All in all it was a very enjoyable day.

Good end to the year

On Sunday several members from Clyde Arrows travelled though the snow to the second leg of the Ayrshire League with good results.
A team comprising of Fiona Quayle, George Mutch, Mark Lyon and Ted Hughes managed to secure second place, keeping Clyde in second place in the overall standings. Hopefully this success will continue in the following legs

5 New Scottish Records at our Open Rose Status Shoot

The tournament kicked off with everyone in good spirits and with the judging team having decided that inspection would take place through the day rather than with the normal queues at the shooting line.

With a small entry the shoot was conducted in a single wave but this was not rushed and was in fact fairly leisurely with and hour break for lunch and 45 minutes between distances.
