Welcome to the Clyde Arrows Archery club

Clyde Arrows are based in Milngavie and meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Beginners courses comprising 4 one and half hour lessons are run regularly by qualified coaches, please contact us or call Bobby on 07500933664 for more details.

Archery is a sport for young and old and our club membership reflects this. Disabled facilities are also available.

Good end to the year

On Sunday several members from Clyde Arrows travelled though the snow to the second leg of the Ayrshire League with good results.
A team comprising of Fiona Quayle, George Mutch, Mark Lyon and Ted Hughes managed to secure second place, keeping Clyde in second place in the overall standings. Hopefully this success will continue in the following legs

5 New Scottish Records at our Open Rose Status Shoot

The tournament kicked off with everyone in good spirits and with the judging team having decided that inspection would take place through the day rather than with the normal queues at the shooting line.

With a small entry the shoot was conducted in a single wave but this was not rushed and was in fact fairly leisurely with and hour break for lunch and 45 minutes between distances.

West of Scotland Archery Association Double FITA

In order that this event can be run we have volunteered to host the event, this will mean that there will be no open shooting at the club on Saturday 18th July 2009. However in order for this event to be a sucess we need volunteers to act as "field party" over the two days of the shoot, this basically entails the following:-

Setting up the field prior to the shoot (Probably a 7am start)
Finding lost arrows during the shoot
Keeping people off the road while shooting is in progress
Assisting with moving targets between distances
clearing the field after the shoot

If you can assist with this or in any other way please tell one of the committee (preferably Mark)

Good Start to the New year

Clyde have been in the medals again already this year.

On a cool Sunday 4th January the brave (or foolhardy) tackled the new field course at Faslane for Neptune Field Archery Club's first "New Year Hangover Cure Shoot". The course was made up of both standard field targets and animal face targets in a challenging mix of up hill, down hill and across hill shots. Douglas Cameron was first boys recurve with Brendan Butler taking second place, Andrew Ho was first boys’ compound with Alex Williams taking second and Eddie Williams was second gents’ compound.

At Bannockburn Bowmen’s open Portsmouth Brendan Butler took the U18 recurve prize with Fiona Quayle and Mark Lyon both taking third place in their respective compound classes.

Junior Champions

Douglas Cameron and Elidh Gregory both won their respective age groups in the Recurve discipline at the Scottish Junior Indoor Championships at Montrose. Brendan Butler managed a very respecable third place.

In the squad

Four of our archers have been offered places in the Scottish National Squad this year. Mark Forrester in the Gents Recurve, Fiona Quayle in the Ladies Compound, Mark Lyon in the Gents Compound and Brendan Butler has been invited to the Junior National Squad shooting U18 Gents Recurve.

We are continually trying to help and promote our members to be the best they can and hope to see more of our members in the squad next year.

A record start to the indoor season

Clyde had a record start to the indoor season at the Lasswade combined FITA when Brendan Butler won the U18 boys recurve section while setting 2 new Scottish Records, one for the 25M FITA and the other for the Combined Fita.

Busy Summer

The club has had a busy and successful summer with members taking medals at most of the competitions that the club have attended.
Brendan Butler represented Scotland in the Junior Euronations in Wales while Fiona Quayle and Mark Lyon were both team members for the West of Scotland at the Pentangle in Penrith.
